Palm Beach Festival Volunteers
Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 July 2005


Event Information
On Saturday 9 & Sunday 10 July 2005 Sydney Beach Volleyball will be hosting the Palm Beach Festival for approximately 1800 American teenagers.

These kids will be in
Australia over 2 weeks to compete in the Youth Friendship Games in sports such as basketball, swimming, indoor volleyball, wrestling, bowling and more. 

The Palm Beach Festival will be held on the weekend that the kids arrive in Sydney, before the Youth Friendship Games commence. It has been designed to show the Americans a real true-blue Aussie experience and will include the following activities:

·         Beach Volleyball

·         Beach Soccer

·         Beach Cricket/Softball hybrid

·         Touch Football

·         Surf Lifesaving activities

·         BBQ


The event will run from 11:00am- 3:00pm on both the Saturday and Sunday on the sand at Palm Beach.

There will be 5 stations along the beach, with each station having facilities for the above sports (i.e. 2 x beach volleyball courts, 1 x soccer, 1x cricket etc)

 

Staff Requirements
The Palm Beach Festival has the following staff requirements:

 

Event Directors

Event Directors will be in charge of up to 3 stations along the beach. Their responsibility will be to ensure all the participants have a positive experience. They will also manage the station managers and all referees at those stations. Event Directors must conduct themselves in a positive, professional and energetic manner at all times.

 

Station Managers

Station Managers are directly in charge of each station and are required to organise referees and manage the competitions at each station. They are in charge of referees and answer to the Event Directors. Station Managers must conduct themselves in a positive, professional and energetic manner at all times.

 

Referees

Referees will make sure games are played in a safe and fair manner. They will ensure the athletes understand the rules of the game before-hand and that game times are kept and scores are recorded. Referees must conduct themselves in a positive, professional and energetic manner at all times.

 

All staff at the event will be required to help set-up the event on Saturday and pack up on Sunday.
